Sculpted Worlds
June 12 - august 2
OPENING RECEPTION
Sculpted Worlds closed out its two-month run at Uncanny Art House having transformed the gallery into something unlike our usual programming. The June opening brought out a strong crowd to experience the full installation as intended: giant sculptures by Nick Lillard commanding the central floor, found object constructions by Chris McDaniel and Derek Boston filling the open space with presence and texture, Ken Hall's bronze masks and cast iron work providing quieter moments of detail, Claire Holloway's bronze head anchoring the entrance, and Jennifer Burwell's walk-through cave installation drawing visitors into its lit plaster environment in the back corner of the gallery.
Poetry Night
The July Second Friday Art Walk gave the exhibition a second life with a poetry open mic that filled the space with a completely different kind of energy. The evening featured poets Crag Hill and spontaneous bob, recently named Poet Laureate of Norman, reading from their newly published collection Every Cell Lit Up. Poets read live in front of an audience surrounded by the sculptures, and the combination of visual and spoken work made for a very memorable evening at the gallery.
