  • Uncanny Art House 106 East Main Street Norman, OK, 73069 United States (map)

Join us for the long-awaited unveiling of The Lost Artwork of Ty Johnson, a haunting and powerful collection from a mysterious artist whose life was as enigmatic as his work. These never-before-seen originals—rescued and preserved by his family—will be on public view for the first time ever.

📅Date: Friday, June 13th, 2025 (2nd Friday Artwalk)
⏰Time: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
📍 Location: Uncanny Art House, 106 E Main St, Norman, OK

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

"Very little is known about my Uncle Ty. After his two tours in Vietnam, we went missing. For ten years, my uncle was out of contact until he reached out to my dad with a hand-drawn postcard that simply said, "still alive."

Shortly after, he died unexpectedly in the hospital. My father drove across the country to collect his artwork, which made all of this possible. For the first time since he died, or possibly since he was a traveling street artist in New Mexico, Arizona, or Seattle, here is the Lost Artwork of Ty Johnson, my uncle, whom I met once as a child." -Dylan Johnson

Our front window displays will feature a special installation by Jennifer Ball-Burwell highlighting the whimsical nature of Ty’s work and y-shirts available for a limited time through the gallery.

Uncanny Art House will also debut a limited-edition book of Ty's collected works, now published for the first time. Guests will have the chance to meet members of the Johnson family and hear stories behind the art and the man who vanished and reemerged only briefly before his untimely death.
