————————

Sound Foundations for Musicians is a focused workshop built for artists and creators who want to better understand how their recordings actually translate. Whether you write songs at home, track full bands, or engineer your own sessions, this class is designed to sharpen your listening, strengthen your decision-making, and help you make more intentional choices from the start of the recording process.

This session breaks down the practical realities of capturing and shaping sound. Participants will explore how room acoustics influence perception, how to use practical theory to guide gear selection and editing decisions, and how microphones, preamps, and signal chains affect artistic outcomes. In-depth discussion will cover microphone types, placement strategies, common pitfalls, and best practices, with an emphasis on capturing a strong mix during the recording session.

The workshop also introduces the fundamentals of mixing, a deeper look at dynamics and how to think critically about compression and balance, and an overview of deliverables and loudness standards for modern platforms. The session concludes with an open Q&A, offering space for practical questions and real-world problem solving.
