Body of Work
August 8 – August 31, 2025
About the Exhibition
Body of Work celebrated the artistry and cultural impact of tattooing through a dynamic group show that brought together contemporary Oklahoma tattoo artists and historical context from one of the state’s most respected institutions. Opening on August 8 during Norman’s 2nd Friday Art Walk, the exhibition featured original artwork, flash designs, and a curated display of tattoo history on loan from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
Participating artists included Melissa McDonald & Sam Bayouth of Main Street Tattoo, Jael Wisdom, Rawb Carter of Mind Bender, CC Stone & Meagan Elferink of Carbon Abstract, and Cori Crawford. Each artist contributed original work showcasing their signature style, giving viewers an inside look at tattooing as both a fine art form and a tool of personal expression.
Opening night offered guests the rare opportunity to receive live, temporary tattoos from select artists based on their flash designs. Visitors were also invited to explore historical artifacts and educational materials that highlighted the evolution of tattooing across cultures and eras. The result was an engaging, multifaceted experience that bridged the past and present of body art in Oklahoma.
