About the Exhibition
Sculpted Worlds is a group exhibition of large-scale sculpture and immersive installation featuring work by Nick Lillard, Chris McDaniel, Jennifer Burwell, Ken Hall, and Claire Holloway. The show brings together artists working in found object assemblage, bronze, plaster, resin, and large-scale figurative construction, unified by a shared fantastical and otherworldly sensibility. The title reflects both the physical nature of the work and the imaginative environments each artist builds.
Artists
Nick Lillard presents a career survey including chess piece sculptures and large figurative constructions reaching up to ten feet, anchored by an eleven-foot hanger system displaying in the round humanoid sculptures at the center of the gallery floor.
Chris McDaniel, in collaboration with Derek Boston, brings large found object sculptures including a centipede and a praying mantis. McDaniel will also maintain a live found object pile on the gallery floor, adding to it throughout the run of the show as an ongoing process element.
Jennifer Burwell builds a walk-through cave installation in the back corner of the gallery, featuring a white plaster cave structure, lit stalagmites with colored glass, and a resin pond. Individual stalagmite sculptures will be available for purchase.
Ken Hall presents a dozen small bronze masks and sculptures intended for pedestal and wall display, alongside a cast iron work.
Claire Holloway's bronze head sculpture serves as an entryway piece on a pedestal at the front of the gallery.
Sales
Original work by all artists is available for purchase. The exhibition includes pieces at a range of price points. Individual lit stalagmites by Jennifer Burwell will be available as retail items.
