ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Indian Time explores diverse interpretations of time from Indigenous perspectives, weaving together themes of cultural identity, history, and futurism. The exhibition delves into the colloquial humor surrounding “cultural lateness,” cyclical understandings of time, and the ways Indigenous communities document histories and cosmogeneologies. It challenges imperialist narratives that dismiss Indigenous values as outdated or anti-science, inviting viewers to reimagine progress through an Indigenous lens.

The show also embraces critiques of capitalist time structures, offering a space for reflection and dialogue. Through a mix of visual art, storytelling, and multimedia installations, Indian Time celebrates the resilience, creativity, and wisdom of Indigenous cultures while envisioning new possibilities for the future.

Exhibition will be on display in our gallery from March 14 through April 6.
