Kaleider by Chris McDaniel

About the Exhibition

Chris McDaniel’s upcoming solo exhibition at Uncanny Art House marks a pivotal moment in his career, showcasing a bold collection of large-scale abstract acrylic paintings. After eight years collaborating with organizations like Factory Obscura and Creature Realm OKC, this body of work reflects his journey toward artistic independence. Featuring 15 wood-panel paintings and approximately 85 illustrations, the exhibition explores themes of self-discovery, individualism, and creative freedom. Each piece captures McDaniel’s evolving artistic voice, breaking away from his collaborative past to define a deeply personal and independent vision. Through dynamic color palettes and expressive compositions, he invites viewers to witness the emergence of his unique artistic identity. This exhibition serves as a platform for McDaniel to publicly embrace his solo identity, pushing the boundaries of his work and offering a bold new direction for his art that has been 20+ years in the making.

“The content of my work often revolves around therapeutic, pleasing and calm spaces that are then engulfed in a whirlwind of shape and color. Trees are a common subject, as are hidden creatures or clues that living beings exist within the composition, such as eggs, vegetation, earth and water.  All of my imagery is created with a focus on sharp edges and the inferred objects are subject to my own tastes in abstraction. This painting process has been developed along with my interests in sculpture, which delves into functional and interactive constructions.”
