Auroras by Jennifer Ball-Burwell
NOVEMBER 8 - DECEMBER 1, 2024
Mini preview of Auroras
Uncanny Art House presents "Auroras", a captivating new exhibit from member artist Jennifer Ball-Burwell inspired by the spectacular coronal mass ejections of 2024. This exhibition opens on 2nd Friday Art Walk in downtown Norman, Oklahoma on November 8, 2024 and will be available for viewing until December 1, 2024.
Through her use of acrylics, fluorescent paint, sculpture, lighting, and music, she explores the idea of auroras being visible all over the Earth, inviting viewers to envision and feel this extraordinary phenomenon. This vibrant body of work utilizes a striking combination of fluorescent colors and layered techniques that make it visually captivating even under normal lighting. However, the real magic unfolds when exposed to black light. The neon pinks, greens, and blues will come alive, radiating with a luminescent glow that transforms the atmosphere of the piece. Each piece is intended to appear almost three-dimensional under UV light.
The exhibition will also feature artwork from Norman High and Norman North students in the mini gallery.
We will also feature musical performances by Stephen Baker and Wess McMichael, setting the perfect atmosphere for an immersive art experience. Enjoy complimentary beverages and light snacks as you take in this new body of work art and live music.
”My journey through the realms of technology and art has been a continuous exploration of creativity, innovation, and the intersection of human expression with digital and tangible media. As an international project manager in computer technology, I am accustomed to navigating complex systems, harmonizing diverse elements into cohesive solutions, and envisioning future possibilities. This analytical and strategic mindset transcends into my artistic endeavors, where I find a parallel in crafting narratives through visuals.
Photography and videography have allowed me to capture moments in time, preserving emotions, and telling stories through light, color, and form. These mediums, much like project management, require meticulous planning, execution, and a vision for the final outcome. Each frame is a project, a story, a piece of life documented and shared with the world.
My venture into decorating for charity events further expresses my commitment to community and the transformative power of art. Here, I blend various materials like sculpture, stained glass, ceramics, resin, polymer, and acrylic paintings, not only to beautify spaces but also to evoke emotions, spark conversations, and foster unity. Each medium presents its own challenges and joys, reflecting my versatility and willingness to adapt, much like managing projects across different technological landscapes.

In my art, I explore the boundaries of traditional and modern materials, always pushing towards new forms of expression. The process of creation, from conception to realization, mirrors the project lifecycle I manage in technology – from abstract ideas to concrete deliverables. This experimental approach in art reflects my life's philosophy: to continuously learn, adapt, and innovate.
Art, for me, is not just an escape from the binary world of code and algorithms but an extension of my professional life where creativity is the code, and the medium is the algorithm. It's about bringing projects to life, whether they are digital transformations or tangible pieces of art, all aimed at enhancing human experience and connection.
Through my work, I invite viewers to see beyond the surface, to engage with the process and the narrative behind each piece. My art, like my projects, is a bridge between the imagined and the real, a testament to the versatility of human creativity and the boundless possibilities when technology and art converge.”
